Bagel Pre Order app
Last updated: 4/1/2026
Bagel (“Bagel”, “we”, “our”, or “us”) provides a Shopify application that automates pre-order workflows using Shopify inventory data and merchant purchase orders.
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and delete information when merchants install and use the Bagel Shopify application.
This policy applies to Shopify merchants who install Bagel through the Shopify App Store.
1. Information We Collect
When a merchant installs Bagel, we access certain Shopify store data through Shopify's APIs. We only request the minimum data required for the app to function.
Merchant Store Information
We may collect basic store information including:
- Store domain (e.g. storename.myshopify.com)
- Shopify store ID
- App installation details
- Merchant contact email (if provided by Shopify)
This information allows us to operate and support the application.
Product Data
Bagel accesses product information necessary to manage pre-order workflows. This may include:
- Product titles
- Product IDs
- Product quantities
- Product SKUs
- Product availability status
This data allows the application to identify products and apply automated availability logic.
Inventory Data
Bagel accesses Shopify inventory information in order to manage pre-orders and stock transitions. This may include:
- Inventory quantities
- Inventory location information
- Inventory updates
Inventory data is used to determine when a product becomes out of stock and when pre-orders should be enabled.
Order Data
Bagel may access limited order information required to calculate available preorder quantities. This may include:
- Product SKUs within orders
- Quantities ordered
- Order status
Order data is used only to track inventory consumption and maintain accurate preorder limits. Bagel does not process payments or access payment information.
Purchase Order Data
Merchants may upload purchase order data through CSV files inside the app. These files may contain:
- Product SKU
- Purchase order quantity
- Expected delivery information
- Optional preorder messaging
This data allows Bagel to calculate how many units can be sold on pre-order while inventory is in transit.
2. How We Use Merchant Data
We use the collected data only to operate and improve the Bagel application. This includes:
- Syncing Shopify inventory data
- Calculating available preorder quantities
- Enabling automated transitions between in-stock, preorder, and out-of-stock states
- Displaying preorder messaging on the storefront
- Enabling bulk SKU management through CSV uploads
- Maintaining app dashboards and reports
Bagel does not sell, rent, or share merchant data with advertisers or third parties for marketing purposes.
3. Customer Data
Bagel does not collect or store personal customer information, such as:
- Customer names
- Email addresses
- Shipping addresses
- Payment information
The application only accesses limited order information necessary for inventory calculations.
4. Data Storage and Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect merchant data. These measures include:
- Encrypted data transmission (HTTPS)
- Secure cloud infrastructure
- Restricted internal access to production systems
Merchant data is stored only for the purpose of providing the Bagel service.
5. Data Retention
Merchant data is retained only while the merchant is actively using the Bagel application.
If a merchant uninstalls the app, store data associated with that merchant will be deleted or anonymized within a reasonable timeframe unless retention is required for security or legal purposes.
6. Data Deletion and Shopify GDPR Webhooks
Bagel complies with Shopify's required data protection webhooks. This includes:
- customers/data_request

When Shopify sends one of these requests, we delete or anonymize the relevant data as required by Shopify's platform policies.
